I only saw Moz in concert once, 10 or so years ago (It was a great concert.) Something that really struck me was how evangelical it was. Grown-ups stretching out to touch a hem, to catch his eye. Turns out he wasn’t the Messiah, he was just a very naughty boy.
Morrissey’s greatest asset is his ability to be a surface on which a certain kind of person can project their hopes and fears.
I’m glad your concert was good. I saw him 20 years ago and he was a bit rubbish. Mind you, he was playing an afternoon slot in a tent on a boiling hot Sydney summer day. Not his natural habitat.
